Bearcat Invitational

Argent Financial Classic Summary

Argent Financial Classic Summary

This week we just finished up our first event of the season at the Argent Financial Classic hosted by Louisiana Tech at Squire Creek Country Club. Overall it was a solid start to the year and to post the low team final round on a difficult golf course and finish T3rd. The golf course received five inches of rain before the practice round last Saturday, but the greens remained very firm forcing all shots to land on the green which put a premium on hitting the fairway and tested short games. For the entire event some the guys struggled with a few situational decisions and our short games were not sharp enough for us to win this week.

Individually, Rhett South paced the team with a T14th showing with scores of 73-72-72 to finish the event at +1. Freddie Turnell also had a solid showing after a 77 in round one the freshman bounced back to lead the team in rounds two and three shooting 72-70 over the final 36 holes and finish T20th. Freddie’s final round 70 was the 4th lowest score of the round in the 100 man field. Senior Matteo Cristoni also finished T20th with scores of 73-74-72.

Next up is the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Cincinnati at Coldstream Country Club as we depart Little Rock for a great few days up north against a very solid field! See below.

Bearcat Invitational

Hosted by: Cincinnati

September 16th-17th, 2024

Coldstream Country Club

LIVE SCORING: Will be on LeaderboardKing.com (I do not have the exact link yet)

We are very much looking forward to getting to Cincinnati and back out competing. On paper Coldstream is a very good golf course for us with the grass being bent which all 5 guys prefer/grew up playing on. Coldstream places a premium on good iron play and driving which are both things our team does very well.

Matteo Cristoni (2023-24 All-OVC Team), Archie Smith (2023-24 All-OVC Team & Conference Champion), and Rhett South (2023-24 All-OVC Team & Freshman of the Year) will be joined by two English freshmen, Freddie Turnell and Ed Featherstone.
