BACK-TO-BACK OVC CHAMPIONS
NCAA SELECTION SHOW 12:30PM WEDNESDAY AT THE JACK!
Hello Trojans!
Last week we won our 2nd Ohio Valley Conference Championship in a row in a dominating fashion once again as I will outline below! We hope you will join us on Wednesday, May 6th as we find out where we will head for NCAA Regionals. We will be hosting a watch party at the Jack Stephens Center in the Ray Tucker Legends Club from 12:30pm-2:00pm. We would love to see you there and we appreciate your continued support of our team!
The OVC Championship will be one we remember for some time after dominating the entirety of the event on the golf course and awards in route to a record setting week for our program.
During the stroke play portion of the event we won by 45 shots which is a new program record for a stroke play victory by 20 shots. Our 824 total was also a new program record as the lowest 54-hole total in the history of the program. Mark Stockdale won the event after firing rounds of 68-68-64 for a total of 200 (-13). Mark’s final round 64 tied the low individual round in school history and his 54-hole total of 200 is a new program record by 2 shots. Ed Featherstone and Elliott Simonsen finished T2nd at 205 (-8) which was good enough for the 7th lowest 54-hole total in school history. Rhett South finished 4th and Viggo Talasmaki finished T13th.
Ed Featherstone was named OVC Player of the Year which is the 4th year in a row a Trojan has won the award.
Viggo Talasmaki won OVC Freshman of the Year which is the 3rd year in a row a Trojan has won the award.
Mark Stockdale’s individual victory marks the 4th year in a row a Trojan has been conference medalist.
All 5 starting players earned All-OVC team honors for the 2nd year in a row (Ed Featherstone, Mark Stockdale, Rhett South, Viggo Talasmaki, Elliott Simonsen)
